Film Location Possibilities

Hi, Dale. Hi, Justin.
Not sure if you remember me, but I'm friends with Douglas Starkey who lives
to the north of you. I have often attended Mercado events with him and I've
seen you at some of Douglas' parties. I hope it's OK that he gave out your
e-mail addresses.
I am the Production Coordinator at the Tucson Film Office and I've been
pitching the Mercado District as a film location to a couple of different
fashion shoots over the last couple of weeks. I have already put the
Location Scout on these projects in touch with Tom Wuelpern but I was
thinking perhaps I should the Scout in touch with both of you as well, in
case Tom is unavailable or whatnot. Would that be OK, and if so, is there a
number at which you can be reached?
Likewise, if there are any other homeowners in the Mercado who you believe
wouldn't mind meeting with the Location Scout to see if their property would
work for these fashion shoots, please put them in touch with me. I really
appreciate your help in getting these film projects to shoot here!
Feel free to call or write back if you have questions about this e-mail, of
course.
Best Regards,
Peter Catalanotte

MSA update

Timing at the MSA is looking more to toward Spring than Winter. We finally got our bank loan but frankly it was not good enough. We are continuing to work on another option for the loan. While I know it is sad to not be open as soon as possible the overall project will be so much better in the long run. We have been making revisions that will for sure please you all. I will share when we have a couple more things locked down. Take care if anyone has questions they can email me at Kira@gadsdencompany.com.
Cheers,

Graffiti at the MSA

Agh, this sucks so much. After paying a fortune to coat the Merdado San Agustín in "Graffiti Coat" the product failed us and the graffiti is not coming off. After many fights with the manufacture we are still in a battle over responsibility. But most likely we will have to replaster the entire West side of the building. Our policy is to remove it as soon as it happens but as you can tell we can't get it off.

A-Mountain Can Be Interesting During the Mornings

I tend to bike A-mountain every other morning before I go to work. However, last Thursday as I was nearing the top, I was approached by police officer on a bike. He told me there had been complaints regarding bicyclist who exceed the 15 mile per hour speed limit on their way down the mountain. I though this was hilarious. But he told me that if the complaints continued a squad car would have to be dispatched to help patrol the mountain during the morning. So, if you happen to bike A-mountain be careful not to go over the speed limit. Yes, I know this seems like a joke, but it is your tax dollars at work.

New Hipster Here

Hola,
I am home from my hip replacement surgery and moving gingerly.  Unfortunately I got a hairline fracture in the femur from the first prosthesis they tried, which they then removed and put a new one in.  So....I am not weight bearing for at least four weeks - which means my real recovery doesn't start for a month. Sigh.  Anyhow, if you come by and ring our doorbell, please know I cannot make it to the door nor navigate the stairs.  If Phil is here, no hay problemo.  Or call first and I can let you in the back door....  I'm eyeing A Mountain already.....

Ready or NOT.....

Here we come. Limited engagement. Tues 28th - Tues 4th. Better get busy and clean the party debris out of our house! It'll be good to see y'all. Hear monsoon action may be scarce for the next week. Oh well.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

I received this email from Ann-Marie and Phil this evening. I walked the property and saw no one but I think it is important that we always report these things to each other, as the Hall's did.

Tonight at about 7 p.m.we had a knock on the door - the bedroom ALLEY door.

After several hard knocks (we were eating) we answered it to a gentleman in

a nice shirt, tie who was selling PROTECH Security Systems. Hi shame was

Mike Lorona. It was very odd, to say the least ....to knock on an alley

door? Not the front door? And ask about security?

Anyone else get such an inquiry?

Anne-Marie and Phil

I think it is suspicious for someone to go to the back door of a home and ask if they can sell the occupants a security system. The point being does the home have security or not. So... If you see this man or hear from here do not hesitate to call the police. They need to hear about these types of "salesmen" and we need a log of anything suspicious that happens in the Mercado District.

Dia de San Juan Pfotos

Dear Mercado Bloggers
Here's some of my perceptions of Dia de San Juan.

Hey from the Northwest

Hi Everyone -
After a two-week road trip - fun but sort of exhausting - we are ensconced in our little summer place. Happy to be here, but also missing our Mercado friends and wishing we could beam ourselves down for the 4th of July festivities. Sounds as if there is a total BLAST in the making. Have a wonderful time celebrating the birth of : first and foremost - JUSTIN !!!! , our Mercado community.... and oh yeah - our nation :-)
Thank you to the friends (you know who you are) who went out of their way to secure our home after the big BLOW the other day. So great to live in a place where everyone looks out for one another. With no apologies to Garrison Keillor. "The Mercado - where all the women are brilliant, the men are total studs, and the children are perfect.... and so are the dogs" (and cats and turtles)
Here's a shot of us so you don't forget what we look like.....and one of the Cascade Mountains taken about 25 miles from our house.
Miss you and see you later this month. xoxoxo Jane and Gordo
