I've created a Facebook Group for the Mercado District. You can post there, share photos. I think this is a more user friendly way to be involved in the community than the blog. So let's migrate there!!! Mercado District - group at Facebook.

Saute and Salad Festival

We have a lot of events coming up in December!

To start we have a celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe. This is the third year we're hosting this event, and it promises to be a good one.

We'll begin the celebration on December 11th. Jose will be setting up the shrine in the morning, and returning that evening for a vigil. Our friends, Estela, Cecilia and Dora will be lending their expertise to truly make this celebration honoring la Virgen de Guadalupe memorable.

December 12th, at 5:30 we'll begin the commencement, lighting of candles and prayers of adoration. We'll also have music for la Virgen de Guadalupe, pozoles, pan dolce and other traditional fare.

Pigs in the Hood! We knew the walking street would attract a lot of attention. These potential buyers do not appear to be wallowing in indecision. But are these the neighbors we were looking for?!?

Walking Street Celebration

This was a great neighborhood gathering to officially celebrate the beginning of the walking street. Mary Lou Thompson cut the ribbon - much fanfare and good cheer.

Happy Father's Day

....to all the Mercado men who are fathers, step-fathers, brothers, uncles, or otherwise mentors to those younger and not-so-young. It seems to me we have an excellent crop of men in our 'hood.....so take a bow and have a great day.
